An Interview with Dr. Sugene Kim
Dr. Kim shares with us a few things about her surgical approach, training and experience, and interests to help you get to know her better:
Q: What is your practice philosophy?
A: My practice philosophy is to provide personalized care with elite customer service in mind while providing the best outcome to each and all of our patients. This means that my team and I spend time to understand our patients’ unique wishes and goals so that we can realistically meet their expectations. I want our patients to be happy with their results and service so that we have a long-term relationship with them.
Q: What is your practice focus?
A: I am dedicated to achieving beautiful, natural appearing results in the safest possible environment. With safety always being a priority, I am proud to have an operating facility that is certified by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF). Our on-site surgery center not only offers a safe environment but a private, comfortable one as well.
Q: What is your clinical focus?
A: My clinical focus is cosmetic surgery of the breast, body and face as well as reconstructive breast surgery. I specialize in breast augmentation, breast lift, and body contouring after pregnancy and/or weight loss. I also offer both surgical and non-invasive facial procedures such as facelift, eyelid surgery, Ultherapy, BOTOX and fillers.
Q: You received the elite Black Diamond award from Allergan last year. What does this mean?
A: In order to be recognized as a Black Diamond provider by Allergan, which manufactures the Natrelle collection of implants, BOTOX and Juvederm, my practice had to be among the top 1% of aesthetic practices in the nation. The award recognizes the top providers for their expertise and experience in procedures using Allergan products. We are honored to receive such a prestigious award and very grateful to all of our patients for their continued loyalty and referrals, which helped us achieve this honor.
Q: What is your education and training background?
A: I graduated from Yale University with high honors and magna cum laude in molecular biophysics and biochemisty. I then received my medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine/NYU. I went on to complete my general surgery residency at Georgetown Medical Center where I served as a chief administrative resident. I was fortunate to train under Dr. Berish Strauch, a pioneer in the field of reconstructive microsurgery at Montefiore Medical Center. I completed my cosmetic plastic surgery training with some of the top cosmetic surgeons on Park Avenue in New York City. Then, I came to Houston where I trained in breast reconstruction at the MD Anderson Cancer Center and served as a clinical fellow.
Q: What do you do in your free time?
A: With a busy practice and surgery schedule, finding free time can sometimes be a challenge. On the weekends, I enjoy spending time with my two boys and husband. I also enjoy playing the piano and traveling.
