What Does It Mean to Be the “Best” Mommy Makeover Surgeon?

SGK Plastic Surgery Blog

Despite exercising, a mother can't get her pre-baby body back and considers mommy makeover.

If you’re in the market for a mommy makeover here in The Woodlands, you doubtless want to make sure you’re getting your money’s worth. It’s important to do your research and choose a surgeon who is right for you. But is there such a thing as a “best” mommy makeover surgeon? And if so, what exactly does that mean?

The mommy makeover is unique among plastic surgery procedures because it focuses on multiple areas of the body in 1 surgery. While many plastic surgeons boast that they specialize in the breast or body, a truly great mommy makeover surgeon must be able to address both of these areas in an artful, safe, and skillful way.

Check Out the Photos

Because mommy makeover is a relatively new procedure in the world of plastic surgery, your chosen surgeon may not yet have amassed a large portfolio of before-and-after photos. That’s OK! If you’re browsing photo galleries, pay special attention to the specific procedures you want to incorporate into your own mommy makeover. For many women, these are breast augmentation and tummy tuck. Take a look at your surgeon’s work on these individual cases to get a good sense of her skillset as well as personal aesthetics.

Defining “Best”

It’s also important to consider what the word “best” means to you. It’s a subjective word that can mean different things to different people, depending on each individual’s priorities. The most important definition of “best” is, of course, your own. What does your dream plastic surgeon look like? Is it someone with impeccable credentials from top-tier institutions? Is it someone with a warm, down-to-earth personality and great bedside manner? Is it a physician who operates out of an incredible facility stocked with the latest technology?

Also consider the staff that supports your dream doctor—is it important to you that these nurses and assistants be operating at the top of their game, too? After all, you’ll be communicating with them as much as (and maybe even more!) than the doctor.

Make the Most of Consultations

It’s a good idea to choose several different surgeons near you and then evaluate how you feel after your consultation with each doctor. These appointments are very important to the success of your entire experience. Rather than your doctor simply evaluating your candidacy for surgery, these consultations also provide an opportunity for you to evaluate the doctor.

Pay attention to how your consultation experience leaves you feeling. If you feel empowered, motivated, and informed, that’s a great sign. But if you’re left feeling confused, disappointed, or misunderstood, it may be a good idea to keep shopping around.

There’s no obligation to schedule your surgery during your first consultation. Instead, take some time with the decision and really weigh your options. Mommy makeover isn’t a small procedure, and you should give your choice the time and attention it deserves.
